Voice Bank Switching

To set up the numbers correctly for bank switching on channels, there's some basic math involved on whatever sound module you may be using whether it be the CBX-T3 or some other MIDI instrument. For the CBX-T3, here are the bank numbers and the math behind them.

In the manual on page 39:

Control 0

Control 32
Bank

MSB

LSB
Name
0 - 63
0
General MIDI
64 - 111
0
Internal Voices
112 - 126
0
Disk Orchestra
127
0
C/M (C/M-64)

Now, make sure that your program is using the "standard bank switching" method. This method uses both controller 0 (Bank Select MSB) and controller 32 (Bank Select LSB) together.

Most programs require a single Bank Select Number. This is reached with this equation using the table above.

(MSB*128)+LSB = Bank Select Number

Here is a chart specifically for the CBX-T3 with the numbers precalculated for you on a base 0. If your system prefers to work on base 1, just add 1 to all of the values.

Bank Number
Bank Name
0 - 8191
General MIDI
8192 - 14335
Internal Voices
14336 - 16255
Disk Orchestra
16256
C/M (C/M-64)

Just insert this number into the space for Bank, Bank Select Number, or whatever may be appropriate for your program.

There are instrument files for Cakewalk 4.0 Pro Audio.
