Rusty W. Spell
received his PhD in English with an emphasis in
Creative Writing (Fiction) at the University of
Southern Mississippi in the Center for Writers
under Frederick Barthelme, Mary Robison, and
Steven Barthelme. While at USM, he taught writing
(creative and otherwise) and literature and
helped to edit Emerging
Voices Online and Product.
He now teaches writing and literature at the
University of Texas Pan American. His two short
story collections are titled Nothing
But Gas and Boys
and Girls in the Modern World.
His short fiction has been published in The
Mid-American Review, The
Mississippi Review, The
Georgetown Review, Nightsun, Pindeldyboz,
and others. Dr. Spell also edits and writes for
the online magazine We Like
Media.
